Supergirl Recap 1×17

This week on Martian Manhunter and Friends (I would totally watch that show btw) Supergirl, following the disaster that was Red Kara, we get to learn everyone’s background stories.

The DEO is taken over by the government AGAIN because Jon has revealed himself to Martian Manhunter and the government can’t trust aliens, even though two of the most powerful ones are flying around freely minding their own business.

Lucy and Colonel James Harper are in charge of the witch hunt, and interrogate both Alex and Jon. Jon tells the background story of how he met Hank and Jeremiah and basically saved Jeremiah’s life, because Jeremiah’s a terrible solider. We and presumably Lucy learn that the real Hank Henshaw is a trigger happy jerk, who is eager to discriminate against aliens and sticks to his predispositions of them. This of course is ironic because regardless of whether Hank is Hank or Hank is Jon he’s still a black man in America, so you’d think he’d be able to realize what he’s doing to Jon is the same thing that could happen to him.

After Jeremiah decides that Jon is cool, Hank finds them and tries to kill Jon, Jeremiah tries to stop Hank resulting in a fist and knife fight that ends with Hank being thrown off a cliff. Jeremiah dies shortly after making Jon promise to take care of his girls.

Meanwhile, at CatCo, Siobhan breaks in (because DC shows don’t believe in security) and sends Cat a nasty email on Kara’s behalf. Obviously, she gets caught, and Siobhan continues her spiral to become a super villain.

The witch hunters also interrogate Alex, using a lie detector test (because of course), and we get to meet party Alex. After a long night of partying Alex ends up in jail, when she is bailed out of both her cell and her destructive lifestyle by Hank/Jon and starts her career at the DEO. Alex answers their questions and is able to trick the lie detector test, but not Lucy. Alex is arrested for … something (lying? perjury? It’s never clarified) and she and Jon are sent to Cadmus (prays for a Superboy reveal).

Kara freaks out, because what IS project Cadmus, and Kara calls to James for help, she decides to let Lucy in on her not so secret identity so she can find Alex and Jon, and they team up and save them. Alex find out from Colonel Harper that her father isn’t actually dead, and her and Jon go on the run, to find him. Kara and Lucy return back to the DEO where they find out that Lucy is the new Hank (head of the DEO not a Martian pretending to be someone else FYI).

Winn finds and breaks up with a drunk Siobhan, because Kara is his friend and he was hoping Siobhan would make better choices. She falls off the roof (because alcohol, high heels and roofs never go well together) and it seems as if she’s done for when her supersonic scream saves her from splattering all over the pavement.

What do you hope they find at Cadmus?

Was Siobhan a super powered human (meta human? Inhuman?) this whole time? Where did she get her powers from?
